Welcome, friends! On the map above, you see eight numbered regions which
correspond with the numbers below. Visiting these regions will enable you to
discover a lesser known, but very special, side of Russian life. Such
villages and towns constitute a rich part of the country's culture. The
villages have anywhere from 30 to 200 homes, a large school (which includes
the community library), and, as a rule, a "hall of culture," small general
store, post office, and church. Our organization has supplied these villages
with new school library books, and with other community improvements. In
addition, we work to open understanding and friendship between the peoples
